Precision plates: micro-progression to break your records
When progressing in 2.5 kg steps (1.25 kg plates) becomes too big a jump, precision rubber olympic plates take over. With the 3 weights available, you choose exactly the increment you need:
-
0.25 kg (green): +500 g in total, the smallest possible increase, ideal for isolation exercises and plateau phases
-
0.50 kg (yellow): +1 kg in total, the perfect compromise for steady progress on the bench press or overhead press
-
1 kg (red): +2 kg in total, an intermediate step between micro-weights and standard 1.25 kg plates
This minimal progressive overload approach is particularly effective for intermediate and advanced lifters who are stalling on their personal records. Rather than forcing too large a jump that compromises technique, you progress gram by gram, set after set.
Universal compatibility
With a 3.5 cm hole diameter, these rubber olympic plates slide onto the shaft of Olympic bars (not onto the 50 mm sleeves) and onto standard bars, as well as adjustable or fixed dumbbells and kettlebells compatible with a 35 mm diameter. The high-density rubber coating protects your bars from scratches, reduces contact noise and stops the plates from sliding once stacked. The colour code (green, yellow, red) makes them instantly identifiable when loading.
What are precision plates used for?
-
Breaking a plateau: progress by 500 g to 2 kg when the standard step is too big
-
Strength cycles: weekly micro-progression on the main compound lifts
-
Muscle rehabilitation: a very gradual return after injury
-
Isolation exercises: fine adjustment on curls, lateral raises and light movements
-
Performance tests: pinpointing your personal records to the gram
To get all 3 pairs at once and cover every micro-progression, discover the 0.25 to 1 kg rubber olympic plate pack. Find our full range of plates in the Weight plates category.
