Why calibrated weights?
A calibrated plate weighs its nominal weight to within ±10 g, thanks to built-in calibration weights. The IPF colour code (red 25 kg, blue 20 kg, yellow 15 kg, green 10 kg) can be read at a glance. Thinner than a standard plate, these calibrated weights leave room on the sleeve for heavy squat and deadlift loads, and their precise bore limits play on the 50 mm bar.
UF calibrated plates: painted or chrome steel
UF calibrated plates: sand-cast steel, with a microporous surface that holds the epoxy coating better. Chrome calibrated plates: a chrome finish that is more resistant to corrosion, a colour band on the rim from 5 to 25 kg, accurate without calibration weights.

Frequently asked questions
Calibrated plate or standard Olympic plate?
A standard Olympic plate can vary by several tens of grams and is thicker. A calibrated plate is accurate to 10 g and slimmer: useful as soon as the load goes up and to prepare for a competition.
Do calibrated plates fit all Olympic bars?
Yes, any bar with 50 mm sleeves.
Can you drop calibrated plates?
No, they are steel plates: put them down. To drop the bar, use bumper plates.
