Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between these bumper plates and recycled rubber plates?
UF bumpers are made of high density virgin rubber: they are odourless and thinner for the same weight, which lets you load more weight on the bar (26 mm for 5 kg, 81 mm for 25 kg). Their bounce is minimal and the insert is reinforced stainless steel to prevent any separation.
What is the weight tolerance of UF bumper plates?
The tolerance is plus or minus 1 percent, so 250 g at most on a 25 kg plate, whereas entry level models can reach plus or minus 5 percent. The weight markings are raised, moulded into the rubber, and do not wear off.
Can you drop the loaded bar with these bumpers?
Yes. Each plate is factory tested to withstand more than 12,000 drops from a height of 2.4 metres. The minimal bounce protects floors and equipment.
What diameter and bore do the bumper plates have?
All plates, from 5 to 25 kg, have a diameter of 450 mm in line with the IWF standard. The collar opening is 50.5 mm, compatible with Olympic bars.
Which bumper packs are available?
The plates are sold in pairs in 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 kg, in black or in colour. The 100 kg pack includes 2 x 5, 2 x 10, 2 x 15 and 2 x 20 kg; the 150 kg pack adds 2 x 25 kg.
