25 kg competition bumper plate: the benchmark for serious weightlifting
The 25 kg red competition bumper plate by Uni Strength is designed to meet IWF (International Weightlifting Federation) weight and dimension specifications. Sold in pairs, it is part of our complete range of Olympic weight plates built for intensive training and competition.
At 62 mm thick, this 25 kg bumper remains compact enough to allow loading up to 300 kg on a standard Olympic barbell. It pairs perfectly with the other plates in the competition range: 10 kg green bumper plate, 15 kg yellow bumper plate and 20 kg blue bumper plate.
Patented design for maximum durability
The hub of these plates features a patented design that significantly extends their lifespan. Many competing competition plates use a single steel disc: this design eventually wears at the junction between rubber and steel, where all the force is transferred. The Uni Strength bumper integrates an additional inner steel ring, combined with a patented bonding method to the rubber plate, for better force absorption and distribution. The result: significantly greater durability compared to single-insert models.
The raised lettering and raised rubber surface around the centre disc reduce metal-on-metal contact. The plates are moulded from high-density virgin rubber (hardness 92 Shore A), ensuring minimal bounce after drops. A raised lip around the edge of the plate also makes it easier to grip when loading and unloading the bar.
Each plate is factory-tested to withstand over 30,000 drops. We offer a 5-year warranty on all our competition plates, as they have been used and tested to endure a high training volume.

Why choose competition bumpers over standard bumper plates?
Competition bumper plates stand apart from standard training bumpers on several key points. Weight tolerance is far tighter (+/- 10 g versus several tens of grams on standard models), ensuring symmetrical and accurate bar loading. The reduced thickness allows more weight to be loaded onto the sleeve: a decisive advantage for athletes working above 200 kg. High-density virgin rubber delivers lower bounce and greater wear resistance compared to recycled rubber models.
If you are looking for precision and longevity for intensive use, the Uni Strength competition bumpers are the most reliable choice. To build a complete IWF colour-coded set, browse our full range in the Olympic weight plates category.
Who are 25 kg competition bumper plates for?
The 25 kg plate is the heaviest in the competition range and the preferred choice for maximising bar load while keeping the number of stacked plates on the sleeve to a minimum. In weightlifting, a pair of 25 kg plates on each side of a 20 kg Olympic barbell gives a starting load of 70 kg, a common working-set starting point for experienced athletes. In powerlifting and strength and conditioning, it is the go-to plate for heavy squats, deadlifts and presses. At 62 mm thick, it still leaves enough room on the sleeve to add supplementary plates and reach the heaviest loads. Combined with the other plates in the competition range, it allows you to compose any load with +/- 10 g accuracy.
